Meet Samiha Heurtebise
Samiha was born in Belfaa, a small village near Agadir. Today she lives in France and works as a freelance designer.
Her journey into art began in a very dark time of her youth. After a deeply painful experience, she was struggling, and it was her father who guided her toward drawing. Through it she found her voice, began to heal and rediscovered herself.
What matters most to Samiha is doing meaningful work that truly helps and moves people. She pours her heart into every project she takes on, and rewards come second. The moments she are proudest of are those when people connect deeply with her artwork and see themselves in it.
She works from home, where she is building her own little creative studio. She cannot draw without her cats by her side: they bring her peace and melt her stress away while she creates. Her partner and her parents are the people closest to her creative path, and they have always been her biggest supporters.
With Agafay Books, she illustrates Lalla Aicha, a book about Amazigh tattoos, a tradition found all over Morocco. Samiha is Amazigh herself, so the subject is close to her heart. She also designed the layout of Food Discovery Journey. Her hope for the children who open her books is this: “I hope children who read my book will feel that they are never alone.”
